Celebration

Children and facilitators collaborate to create a map for tracking the realm of Possibility. Here mystery and mirth merge to reveal the secret cache where Magic lives! KIDZ use the power of each element to re-enchant their world.

DISCOVER: galactic signatures, cave booty, fairy haunts, stream straddling, waterfall wells, personal dream myths and treasure hunts.

CREATE: seasonal staffs, shields, capes, songs, prayer flags, medicine belts, drums, fairy huts, group stories, gardens, elemental mazes, candles, sacred water, wind chimes, origami planes/windmills, journals of collective myths, masks and totems.

INHABIT: story cave, time machines, infinity labyrinths, campfire circles, star tetrahedron, questing lodges and nature¹s magical spaces.

With group support in preparation for rites of passage, children are encouraged to own themSELVES and claim their place on earth.

Camp Facilitators

Cindy Calderwood, a graduate of University of Michigan, earned a Masters in ESL. She is a collaborative educator embracing diversity and mentoring children in her Imagine program. Cindy shares the village of community through Circle, teaching movement and cyclic celebrations. She invites children of all ages to unearth capricious whims.

Charles W. Thomas Jr., a graduate of Duke University, is founder of Sankofa Companies. Brother Thomas, a wizard, invites students to explore the magic of nature and who they are through photography, African drumming and dance, rites of passage celebrations and Japanese origami.

Registration

Each camp builds upon the experience of the last, as campers ritualize each spoke in the Wheel of Creative Self. Sessions available as a series or on an individual basis. Camps are held at Waterfall Mountain Retreat Center in Warrensville, NC, 30 miles north of Boone. *Location of winter camps to be announced (TBA).
